Duties and responsibilities of the instrument technician



Instrumentation technicians install, repair, and maintain tools and equipment, usually of a medical or electrical nature. Factories, laboratories, medical facilities, and companies that have complex tools and equipment rental technicians who specialize in tools to work flexible hours that may include night, weekend and on-call hours. Instrument technicians report to a technical supervisor and work in a team environment within the facility itself, rarely traveling offsite to perform their normal duties.

Duties and responsibilities of the instrumental technician

The daily activities of instrument technicians are manifold, depending on the types of equipment present in the contractor structure and the number of instruments that require maintenance. However, the basic functions are universal in all work environments.

Install tools

Instrument technicians install the tools making sure that all are functioning properly at the highest level.

Troubleshoot and troubleshoot

Instrument technicians troubleshoot and isolate instrument problems and perform repairs to restore full instrument functionality.

Stay safe

The instrument technicians maintain a safe working environment for themselves and all other colleagues by following safety protocols.

Perform daily checks

Instrument technicians check tools and equipment daily to perform the necessary calibrations to keep everything functioning properly.

Respond to maintenance requests

Instrumentation technicians respond to requests for maintenance work on all tools and equipment.

Read and interpret the plans

Tool technicians read and interpret drawings, diagrams, and work orders to repair and install tools.
